Bill Cosby: The Fall of America’s Dad

There’s a new podcast called “Chasing Cosby.” Bit by bit, episode by episode, journalist Nicki Weisensee Egan (who covered the case from the beginning) lets us hear the stories of some of the 60 women who’ve accused Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. It’s a disturbing podcast, a tale filled with the pain of survivors. But it’s also the story of an entitled, selfish man utterly lacking in compassion, someone so sure of his power that he truly believed he could do anything and get away with it.

We’ve heard about men like this before. The story itself isn’t that surprising. What is new though is the man at the heart of it all. Because he isn’t just any man. Cosby is a comedian who rose to fame telling jokes that people of any age could hear. But even more than that, he exemplified all the qualities we want in a father. He seemed kind, stable, generous, and funny. This guy was America’s Dad. That’s what makes this so devastating. He was part of the family. CLICK FOR MORE
